Paris is known throughout the world as the capital of style, elegance and sophistication, and this was demonstrated yet again when the audience at the Parisian screening of Australian Short Film Today voted for our film as the best in the line-up, beating out some very good films that have won awards at various festivals around the world.
The screening itself, on 20 November, was a terrific success. The films played to a packed cinema at the Luminor Hotel de Ville – not a single spare seat – about 200 people in all.
The audience was about 40% Australian ex-pats and 60% curious Parisians. There was lots of genuine laughter and the film seemed to appeal to their particular sensibilities. They especially enjoyed the “French connection”.
Many thanks to everyone involved in organising the screening, in particular the good people at the Australian Embassy in Paris and the incredibly generous people at Australian Short Film Today.
This whole experience has been like a dream and I will treasure the memories for the rest of my life.
